Weekly briefing
The weekly briefing is a short, personal summary for one place: what changed in the public record last week, deadlines coming up, what waits for your review, and outcomes your workspace recorded. It is built the same way every time from the same facts, so two people with the same place and week read the same briefing.
Preview it from Statecraft → Briefings.
What is in it
- Coverage: whether every source behind the briefing is verified and current, and what was left out. A fact is listed only when the sources for its place and kind are verified and current. Facts from stale or unmonitored sources are never shown as if they were complete; instead, the coverage note names each place and kind of source left out, why ("No source for meetings is monitored here yet", "Last verified …; not checked since"), and how many changes and deadlines that hid.
- Deadlines coming up: open or unconfirmed opportunities whose deadline falls within the next 14 days, in the place's own time zone, marked Watched when they are on your watchlist.
- What changed: new records and changes (a status change, an update) to bodies, seats, meetings, agenda items, matters and opportunities in the period, each with its source link and when it was last seen.
- Waiting for review: AI readings in your review queue, and planned participation still to come.
- Outcomes recorded: outcomes your workspace noted in the participation log during the week.
When it arrives
Each location profile gets one briefing per week: the week that ended at Monday 00:00 in the place's time zone (its most local government's), generated from 06:00 that Monday. The person who set up the location profile gets it in the app (Notifications) and, by their delivery settings, by email as plain text. A briefing is stored once and never changes; delivered briefings are listed under Delivered on the Briefings page.
Preview
The Briefings page builds last week’s briefing (the last full week, Monday to Sunday) for the location chosen in the header, from the sources as they stand now. The preview is not saved or sent. Choose a location first; the page asks for one otherwise.
Alerts
Statecraft → Alerts keeps alert rules for the location chosen in the header: a new opportunity (optionally on a theme), a deadline coming up within so many days, a source going stale for the place, or a matter changing status. An alert fires only on facts whose coverage is verified current, once per fact, and reaches you in the app (Notifications) and, by your delivery settings, by email. Pause or delete a rule at any time; recent alerts are listed under the rules.
Calendar feeds
On the same page, Create feed makes a private calendar address (iCalendar) of deadlines and meetings, for what your workspace watches or for the chosen location. Add it to your calendar app as a subscription. The address is shown once: anyone who has it can read the feed, so keep it private, and Revoke it if it leaks; a revoked address stops working at once. An event whose source is not verified current is marked tentative, with the reason in its description.
Weekly digest
Statecraft → Digests is the workspace's Monday digest: for researchers, new documents and claims on watched themes; for editors, what waits for review; for project leads, tasks blocked during the week; for finance stewards, approval requests not yet granted. Each member reads the sections for the roles they hold; owners read every section. So far this week previews the next one.
This week
Statecraft → This week lays out a weekly rhythm: read the briefing Monday, verify what needs checking Tuesday, draft or assess midweek, take one action by the end of the week, and review at month end. Each step lists what it is about this week; Mark done logs the minutes you spent against your own weekly time budget, on Track A (civic action) or Track B (building capacity), and Undo takes it back. The counts at the bottom (meetings attended, deadlines met, work published…) are counts of what the workspace recorded; nothing is ranked or scored.
Who can read it
Every member of the workspace can preview and read the workspace's briefings, if the plan includes the Weekly Briefing. Briefings belong to the workspace; nobody outside it can see them.
