Network

The network shows how the records in your workspace connect through their links: issues, initiatives, research notes, institutions, opportunities and the other records you have linked. Open it from Analytics → Network.

What you see

  • Without a centre, the workspace's most recent links and the records at each end.
  • With a centre, the records around one record, out to the depth you choose: 1, 2 or 3 hops. Pick Centre here on any record in the table, or click a node in the graph, to re-centre on it. Show recent links instead clears the centre. To centre on a record you know, enter its type and ID.

Switch between Graph and Table. The table lists the same records (with how many hops each is from the centre) and the same links, so the page works with a keyboard and a screen reader. Public records, such as institutions from the public record, are marked Public record.

A view shows at most 200 records and 500 links. When it reaches either, the page says the view is truncated: centre on a record to see its neighbourhood.

Only what you may open

The network shows a record only if you could open it yourself, and a link only if you could open both of its ends:

  • records in restricted projects you are not a member of, and records an information barrier walls off from you, are left out, with their links;
  • the walk never passes through a record you cannot see, so a hidden record never connects two visible ones;
  • nothing on the page counts or hints at what was left out.

A centre you cannot open answers "That record does not exist, or it is hidden from you", the same answer as for a record that does not exist.

The network draws links people made. It does not score, rank or infer influence between people or institutions.
