Rituals
Rituals are the organization's recurring meetings, each with an agenda drawn from what is actually happening. Rituals lists the five, when each is next due, and which are not set up yet.
Rituals need a team plan (Organization or Enterprise); on other plans the page says "Rituals need a team plan". Every member can see them; researchers, editors, project leads and finance stewards (and owners) set them up and run them.
The five rituals
| Ritual | Default slot | What its agenda holds |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly triage | Mondays 09:00 | Tasks nobody is assigned to, issues opened since the last triage, blocked work |
| Publication review | Every other Tuesday 14:00 | Drafts waiting for review or approval |
| Delivery review | Every other Wednesday 14:00 | Milestones due or missed, initiatives at risk |
| Monthly budget and governance | Monthly, Thursday 17:00 | Spending against budget, pending approvals, policies due for review |
| Quarterly portfolio review | Quarterly, Thursday 10:00 | Every live initiative in a portfolio, each with a Continue or Stop vote |
Rituals → Set up installs the ones missing, at the default slots or ones you choose, in the Time zone you pick. It starts at the time zone of your workspace's place (else your device's); pick another from Suggested, from the list grouped by region, or type a city in Find a time zone. Running it again adds nothing that is already there. You can also set a ritual up on its own.
Each ritual shows when it is next due in its own time zone, with the zone named ("Oct 26, 2026, 9:00 AM (Los Angeles time)"). Dates and times are written the way your browser writes them.
Settings
Open a ritual to change its title, cadence, time zone, facilitator, the committee that votes at it, the procedure it follows, and its standing items: topics that appear on every run's agenda ("Volunteer shout-outs").
Running a ritual
Preview shows what the agenda would hold if the ritual were run now, without starting anything.
Run opens a meeting with that agenda, taken from live state at that moment. Only one run of a ritual can be open at a time. Work through it like any meeting:
- Resolve each item with a short resolution, which writes a decision log entry, or defer it.
- At the weekly triage you can assign an owner to an unassigned task while resolving it.
- At the quarterly portfolio review, each initiative's Continue or Stop vote is recorded as a decision. It never changes the initiative's status; whoever owns the initiative does that.
Adjourning the run defers whatever is still open, freezes the record and moves the ritual to its next date. The ritual page lists every past run with its decisions.
Reminders
The facilitator is reminded 24 hours before a ritual is due, once for each due date, depending on their notification settings.
