Notifications

Notifications tell you when something in your workspace needs your attention: a role you were given, an export that is ready, a change to an issue you opened. The bell in the header shows how many are unread.

Your inbox

Open the bell, or go to Notifications:

  • Select a notification to open the record it is about. Opening it marks it read; Mark read does the same without opening it.
  • Mark all read clears the unread count.
  • Unread only hides the rest.

The bell checks for new notifications every minute.

Notifications belong to a workspace. You see the current workspace's notifications only; switch workspaces to see another's.

Some come from parts of the app that may not be in your plan; without that part, nothing produces them.

You are never notified about what you did yourself. Notifications go only to current members of the workspace: someone whose roles have all been revoked receives nothing more.

Choosing how you hear

Go to Notifications → Settings. Under What to tell you, choose for each notification:

Setting In your inbox Email
Right away Yes One email per notification, straight away, or when quiet hours end
Daily digest Yes One email a day, at your digest hour, listing everything since the last
Off No No

A day with nothing to report sends no digest.

Under When to email you:

  • Time zone: the zone your quiet hours and digest hour are in. It starts as UTC; set it to where you are.
  • Quiet hours: emails that fall due between the start and the end wait until the end. A window can wrap midnight, for example 21:00 to 07:00. Your inbox is never held. Set both ends, or neither.
  • Daily digest at: the hour, in your time zone, the digest is sent. The default is 08:00.

Settings apply to the current workspace only, so you can, for example, keep your personal workspace quiet.

Emails go to the primary address on your account and link to your inbox and to these settings. Where no email service is configured, such as a local development setup, emails are written to the server log instead of being sent.

Messages to people outside the workspace

Some features send email to people who are not members, such as an invitation or a message to a public body. These are only ever sent because a person in the workspace asked: automated processes and the AI cannot send them.

Each message goes to at most 20 recipients. Just before sending, the platform checks again that the person who asked still holds the role the feature requires. If they don't, the message is not sent.
