Decision Monitor

The Decision Monitor follows what the bodies serving a place are deciding: their meetings with each agenda item, and the matters (bills, ordinances, resolutions, rules, notices, contracts, appointments) that move through those agendas.

Open it from Statecraft → Meetings or Statecraft → Matters, with a location chosen in the header.

Meetings

The list shows Upcoming meetings by default, soonest first; switch to Past for meetings already held. Each meeting shows its body and level of government, its time in the body's own time zone (named beside it), its status as the source gives it (scheduled, postponed, cancelled, held), how many agenda items are recorded, and a link to the official agenda.

A meeting's page has where it is held, links to join or watch online, the minutes and video when published, the meeting's documents, and the agenda item by item: number, title, kind of action (consent, public hearing, discussion…), the matter it concerns and its attachments. Each agenda item has its own address (…/meetings/<id>#item-<id>), so a link, a watchlist entry or a briefing can point to one item.

No agenda items yet usually means the agenda is not posted; many bodies post it a few days before the meeting.

Matters

The matters list can be searched by number or title and filtered by type. A matter's page shows:

  • its status as the source words it ("Passed second reading", "In committee"), and since when;
  • when it was introduced, and the session;
  • On these agendas: every recorded agenda item that took it up, latest first, linked to the item on its meeting;
  • its documents (bill text, staff reports), and opportunities to comment on it.

Decisions and votes

Statecraft → Decisions lists what the bodies decided, newest first, filterable by outcome. Each decision shows the motion or action as the source words it, the outcome (passed, adopted, failed, tabled…) with the source's own word beside it, the tally as the source states it, and its date in the body's time zone. A decision's page lists every vote the record gives, with the name as printed and the office the voter holds. Votes are about people acting in their official capacity; the platform keeps no score, ranking or profile of anyone from them. When the record lists no individual votes, the page says so.

A matter's timeline

A matter's page has a Timeline: introduced, each agenda it appeared on, each decision and each change of status, in order, each with its source excerpt. A decision on the timeline opens the decision's page.

Sources, freshness and coverage

Every meeting, item and matter links to the document it was read from and says when it was last seen there. The coverage banner above each list says whether meetings, agendas and legislation are monitored for the place; Source health opens the Connector health page, which shows when each source was last read. Agenda items a model read from an agenda wait in the review queue before they appear.

Watching and taking part

Contributors (researchers, editors, project leads, owners) can Watch a meeting, an agenda item or a matter, and Record what you did about it in the participation log. Everything watched is listed on the watchlist.
